In the February update of Panda 3.0 there was a little paragraph on the Google Search Blog about Local Search, and what changes they were making to the algorithm regarding local search. That specific update was called “Venice” and was fairly articulate in the changes and updates that Google was making that would impact local search.
On SEOMoz.org blog, Mike, with NiftyMarketing.com wrote a great piece on the Venice update, it’s possible implications and some great ideas on how to fully take advantage of the new updates. The ones that really stuck out are exactly the ones that can be done using PageInvasion WordPress plugin. Here are some suggestions Mike made: (From Mike’s Post)
Step 1: Analyze the localized results on your queries.
A wise man once said, “If you can’t beat em, join em.” This is my favorite applicable SEO quote as generally the people who are outranking you are doing something that you SHOULD be doing. This is definitely the case with the Venice update. Here are the common elements that I see these localized sites have…
- Local Landing Pages: Findlaw.com doesn’t have a physical address in Las Vegas. But they sure do have a landing page for it located at URL below. You might need an address to play in Google Places, but not in the organic league.
- Title tag and description: Location + Keyword. This is pretty basic information but crucial in ALL cases that I have seen of localized organic results.
- Localized Page Content: Usedcars.com makes good use of Header Tags and site content focusing on the Las Vegas market and different types of cars. While cookie cutter content, for now this is doing the trick for them.
Why PageInvasion Works
PageInvasion is the fastest, easiest and most consistent way to create localized landing pages. This is exactly what it was made for. You can create pages that have any main keyword and any city name and the landing page will have those keywords in the URL, the Title, in Heading tag, and in the content. This is why PageInvasion is working for so many people.
